Summary of The Allegory of The Cave

In the allegory of the cave, people are chained
and they are kept in a cave. They have never
been outside, they never seen each others faces
Just the shadows that each other has.
One of the prisoners was set free and he saw the outside world
He liked it so much he wanted to show his other friends
but his friends where afraid of leaving the cage because
they where so used to being in there, and accustomed to
the darkness in there.
In the end Glaucon was able to understand what Socrates was saying
about we all having a cave that we don't like to leave
but we need to go out and see what else is there outside of our cave.
